I remember when Palm presented the Pre back in Jan '09. The impression it left was thoroughly positive, which was a combination of the looong wait for the replacement to PalmOS and certainly because the features and the UI presented that day looked genuinely good.
Follow up:
When I saw it I new it was going to be my next device, it was "simply" a matter of waiting at that point.
But then, at the end of August this same year, while people were waiting for the long awaited update to version 1.2, I came across this article at Precentral. What changed my mind was all the comments below the article regarding all the things that were missing that I had simply taken for granted would be there. I was going to list some of the things people were complaining about or missing, and that I knew I myself would be bothered by, but there are simply so many things that you'd be better off looking at that article yourself. After I finished reading the article I knew it would not be my next device, there were simply too many features missing.
Perhaps when Palm releases another major version of WebOS I will consider it again, it certainly has potential. But WebOS in its current iteration is not for me.
