The debate is obviously, but unfortunately, still very much relevant :)

I agree about how frivolous people are about giving up their freedom to use their device however they wish, only to gain some convenience in form of a locked down and crippled device; but just as with many other aspects of life, people get exactly what they deserve/are willing to put up with....

And that's why smartphones should always come with a full keyboard ;)

Opera Mobile on the Nokia E7 is perfect for web surfing. You can swipe the screen if you want or just press 2 for page up, 8 for page down. It would be absolutely perfect if it didn't have the slightly annoying animation when changing pages.

A little late to the debate but I wholeheartedly agree. Ecosystems suck! :) They're the epitome of vendor lock-in yet people would rather give their money to companies that will control their entire mobile computing experience, from hardware to peripherals to software and services. That's one helluva price to pay for convenience.

Smartphones may have hardware limitations that mean you can't run desktop-class software and media, but that's no excuse to lock them down. It's ridiculous that iOS and WP7 don't offer filesystem access and USB mass storage support and force users to go to "the cloud". Then again, not so ridiculous if you're grubbing for profit - it's a great way to control access to paid content and services a la iTunes/Zune, so hardware manufacturers, mobile OS providers and wireless carriers can all make money from hapless consumers.

Yeah, I know about Sendo.

Given the size of Nokia, and Elop's background at MS, I don't see how they think they could pull something like that off, even though Elop's words + actions all support it; you have to wonder why Nokia's shareholders are willing to put up with his devestating actions....

Why I prefer iOS and can care less if anyone else does. Simple put, it just works for me. Apple has created hands down the best experience in the cynergy created between all its products and coming as a Mac user, iOS just fits in there nice and snug. Now, I do realize other companies in recent years have created their own line of products that work quite well with each other, and for most of your sakes I'm happy it is working out for you. It's too bad for these companies they weren't doing it back in my days of frustration which lead me to Apple's products. Say what you want, you can't argue they have the best customer experience ratings. They had their sh@t together first, why I switched a long time ago, and whynim still happy today. What works for me works for me. What works for you works for you. Cheers my friends.

You're the one cussing and accusing me of being paid by Samsung (I wish!), and you're telling me to chill??

No, neither the Galaxy nor the Sensation are designed, in any shape or form, around phone calls being the primary function - if that's your main usage then get yourself a basic Nokia phone, preferably one with a BW display to get the maximum battery life.

But if you want to use your smartphone for what it was designed, then you will absolutely want that extra RAM memory.
You also need to think ahead: we'll soon get ICS, which will likely be accompanied by an overall increase in RAM usage, which means that the Galaxy, with its higher RAM, is in a better position than the Sensation to run ICS without any hiccups.
